Do Presidents Tell Jokes?

Today's Presidential Joke Day! Wait, do presidents even tell jokes? Well, to tell the truth, there's at least one on the record: Ronald Reagan. It went like this...

On August 11, 1984, Reagan, not knowing his microphone was on, said: “My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.” Of course, I didn't go out live, though it was later leaked.

Some took it as a joke, while others thought it was a threat.

And so Presidential Joke Day was born.

I think that a president is a president, not a clown! Though they could tell jokes, having a limit is better, because a joke like Reagan’s might cause wars, or even the destruction of this planet, since both countries, the U.S. and Russia, all had lots of nukes.

And so that's today, and I hope that you’re president someday, then don't do what Reagan did. Bye!
