U.S. Politics: #6 Trump And The USPS

September 6, 2020206 words1 min read

Welcome back, to the U.S. Politics show. Today, we’ll be talking about Trump and the United States Postal Service (USPS), and why Trump doesn't trust the post.

It all started with the Coronavirus outbreak, which resulted in people staying home almost all the time. And with the 2020 election around the corner, people decided to use mail-in ballots instead of going to poll stations and such to vote. Mail-in ballots were, of course, a job for the USPS to deliver and make sure arrived in where they were supposed to be.

But, for some reason, Trump doesn’t really trust the Postal Service, quote: “They want to steal the election.” And the Postal Service really is kind of wonky these days, with residents complaining about mail that hasn't arrived, and that kind of stuff. People blame the postmaster general, Louis DeJoy, though some say Trump is making stopping the post part of his plan because he thinks that an election could only be rigged if sent by post or something.

To me, Trump could kind of try to “cheat”, but not by stopping the post or anything, because with the post stopped, people relying on the service would not have things they need send through the USPS.
