Labor Day (Not Labour Day)
September 7, 2020 — 127 words — 1 min read
Don't get confused, today is "Labor Day", not the other “Labour Day”. Today's day is only celebrated in the U.S.
Anyway, did you know, that Labor Day is on the first Monday in September? And that it stretches all the way back to 1882? Well, Labor Day is all about the American labor movement, and the contributions that workers have made to the country. In the late 19th century, the labor movements grew, and unionists proposed a day to be set to celebrate labor.
Later, it officially became a federal holiday, and it was celebrated nationwide in the U.S.
I guess this holiday is almost always confused with the other “Labour Day”, but next time, when someone asks: “What's Labor (Labour )Day?” You should ask: “Which one?”
