Land Ahoy!

“The Mayflower has just set sail! It is the year 1620, and the ship, with 102 passengers and a small crew, plus Captain Christopher Jones on board, are off on their historic journey to the New World!”

The Mayflower, a merchant ship that usually carried wine and dry goods, set sail from Plymouth, England, on September 16th, 1620, so that day, today, is also called “Mayflower Day”.

Captain Christopher Jones (as mentioned above), owner of the historic ship, lead the journey, with passengers and supplies of the leaked “Speedwell” on board, too.

The Mayflower is estimated to have measured 80 or 90 feet in length, and 24 feet in width.

I think the Mayflower did well because through brutal storms, it made it across the Atlantic, and on November 21, 1620, made landfall at the current Provincetown, Massachusetts, or in pirate talk: “Land ahoy!”
