“To Everyone’s Horror, The Norse Explorer...”

“To everyone's horror, the Norse explorer, who discovered and uncovered the land America. Long gone when Columbus came but was never famed nor named discoverer.”

That is the story of Leif Erikson, Norse explorer and original discoverer of the land “America”, written in poetry. Why don't we know him as the discoverer of America? Maybe because he was from the Viking age, or because of something else. But he came to the land 500 years before Christopher Columbus, so Erikson should be the discoverer. He discovered America shortly after 1000 CE, and thanks to Rasmus Anderson's “America not discovered by Columbus”, the idea Erikson discovered America became more popular.

And so October 9th’s, today's, Leif Erikson Day is a rightful day to remember that Erikson first discovered America.

I hope that you changed your mind about Columbus discovering America because, with 500 years of difference, there really isn't anything to argue about.
