The Legendary Kraken That Lurks Under Seas
There is this legendary Kraken that is said to live off the coasts of Norway and Greenland. It originated from sightings of giant squid that grow from 13 to 15 m in length. Its size is so big that it has turned into a common monster in fiction.
The Kraken is just one and many myths created to explain natural phenomenons unexplainable in ancient times. And there's even this holiday about these myths, you guessed it, Myths and Legends Day is today, Oct 11th. It is also called Kraken Day and is part of Cephalopod Awareness Week since the Kraken is considered a cephalopod. This awareness week begins on Oct 8th, because the squid has 10 arms, and octopuses 8. We should read more myths, Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Norse, and more, because not only is it part of Myths and Legends Day, but these myths are a fun way of understanding different parts of the natural world, through the way our ancestors thought about it.
Like in the Greek myth, Zeus was the god of lightning, and when he got angry, the sky flashed or something.
I think it was a funny way to explain lightning, don’t you?
