Let's Look For Circles!
Let's see how many circles exist around us daily, since it’s Look for Circles Day! Celebrated annually on November 2nd, it encourages you to find circles, especially youngsters learning to recognize shapes.
Circles can be found everywhere, from the “home” button on your phone, to a round trashcan lid.
This particular geometric shape only has one visible edge and side, the circumference, or the perimeter of the circle. A circle, unlike other shapes, has a diameter and radius. The radius is basically any straight line from the center to the edge of a circle. The diameter, on the other hand, is also a straight line stretching from one edge to the opposite. How do you get a diameter? You get it by multiplying the radius by 2, or Diameter = 2 * Radius. In simpler words, a circle is a perfectly round 2D shape, like a trashcan lid.
Like circles? I think we can play “Count Your Circles” today, a brand new game I just made, involving counting circles around you, and an ice cream for the winner who counted the most.
