It’s King Tut(’s) Day!

There’s something special about today, Nov 4th. Yes, you guessed it, one of Egypt’s most famous pharaohs, Tutankhamun, was discovered on this date, back in 1922. That is mainly why King Tut(ankhamun’s) Day is today!

Discovered in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings by British archaeologist Howard Carter, King Tut was one of the youngest pharaohs of Egypt, taking the throne at age 8 or 9, one reason he was so famous, though died in a chariot crash 10 years later. He was buried in KV62, the standard Egyptological designation for his tomb, as a mummy, which meant going through a lot of processes to get only the skeleton remaining. It was then wrapped in a cloth and put into a big coffin. Surprisingly enough, what remains of King Tut is the best preserved in the Valley of the Kings, for an ancient mummy, the second reason for being the most famous Egyptian king.

Here’s the strangest part, if you ask me: Some say Tut’s tomb was “cursed”. Even though it's never been proved, they say Tut died in mysterious ways. Funny, right? But just to be careful, next time, when I visit Egypt, remind me NOT to visit King Tut’s tomb!
