Do you like televisions? Well, hi there, I’m Mr.TV, and today’s my day, World Television Day!

Here’s a fact about me, I’m probably older than your grandma, ‘cause I’m about 94 years old if you consider my birthday to be on Jan 26th, 1926! Do you know my inventor? The truth is, I don’t have a clear inventor. The idea of a working “me” occurred to many long before the first vision started actually working. I think I have to give the credit to John Logie Baird, a Scottish inventor who made the first mechanical version of me. But the version of me we know today, the electronic TV, was invented by Russian inventor Vladimir K. Zworykin! And now, especially in this pandemic, I have become very popular!

Since I have a long history myself, it’s not surprising that my day, World TV Day, dates back to 1997. The strange thing is, it actually marks the time the UN had the first World Television Forum, which focused on the role of me in decision-making.

Funny, right? Frankly, I might also hold the record for most nicknames in the “invention industry”, because people call me by names like “TV”, “Tele”, “Telly”, and more! I’m off to watch me on TV! Wait, I am a TV! Anyway, I sure hope you can watch me today!
