Let’s Hang Up Those Christmas Lights!
There’s less than a month separating now from Christmas Day, which is on Dec 25th. But why wait until then to hang up the decorations, particularly the lights? Let’s do it now since it’s also National Christmas Lights Day!
Celebrated annually on Dec 1st, or today, National Christmas Lights Day celebrates Christmas lights – lights that are hung up on or inside of Christmas trees, and encourages you to hang them up!
These so-called “Christmas lights” were invented by Edward H. Johnson in the early 1880s, to sort of replace the candles that were used back then to illuminate Christmas trees. Even though he lit his tree with 80 light bulbs on Dec 22nd, 1882, it still took many years before they became popular.
“But very “quickly”, they were popularized, with the White House having its first ones in 1895. I think besides putting up Christmas lights today, why no the tree and other decorations too? Besides, we need trees to even hang up the lights!” Tigger said earlier in the day. “Even though our lights are broken, we still have other decorations to hang up and prepare!”
