The Prize For People With No Bells... Sorry, Only Joking

December 10, 2020190 words1 min read

Today, Dec 10th is Nobel Prize Day, which celebrates the prize awarded to people with no bells! Well, not really, that was just a joke.

The Nobel Prize is actually a series of prizes, given out in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, economics, and peace. The prizes are all handed out to individuals, except for the Nobel Peace Prize, which could be given to an institution or an individual. All but the prize in economics was originally written in Alfred Nobel’s will, who left SEK 31 million for the Nobel fund.

Alfred Nobel was the guy who invented TNT, an explosive designed to help mankind in doing certain tasks, like mining or digging tunnels. But countries later used it in war, where he still earned lots of money, though he wasn’t happy about it. He wanted to help mankind, so he created the Nobel Prize, which is awarded to people who’ve helped the world.

“I think that Nobel Prize Day, which is celebrated annually today, is very important because it kind of reminds us to help others,” says Tigger. He wants to win the prize in medicine one day.
