The Cold Days Are Coming!
Yesterday, Jan 5th, was Minor Cold. It is the 23rd solar term of the 24 traditional Chinese solar terms and marks the start of some of the coldest days of winter in most parts of China.
But during this cold period, you could still have fun. You can go skiing with friends, make snowmen if there is any snow, or if you are not that type, play board games at home with a cup of hot chocolate nearby.
The 24 solar terms are like a calendar having different periods that mark harvest, winter, summer, spring, autumn, and other main times in the year. There is also the winter and summer solstice and the vernal and equinox at intervals.
“Since the weather forecast says that the temperature at night would be around minus 18 degrees Celsius, then I just don’t know how cold it would be in Beijing when Major Cold comes around,” says Tigger today. “Minus 18 degrees Celsius is like being in my freezer 24/7!”
