Happy Wikipedia Day!
Did you know that today, Jan 15th, is Wikipedia Day? Yes, you guessed it right, it is the birthday of the free online encyclopedia, Wikipedia.
Wikipedia contains every piece of knowledge that you could need. These can include things from fictional characters, famous inventors to ordinary things such as doors and elevators. This digital book of info was launched exactly 20 years ago, on Jan 15th, 2001, making that day Wikipedia Day. And here is a fun fact about it: If you printed every page of the 5 million articles, the printed book would roughly be equivalent to 2000+ volumes of the Encyclopedia Britannica. And it wouldn’t be complete because the encyclopedia gets edited all the time.
“According to Wikipedia, Wikipedia fans organize parties in their communities to discuss the encyclopedia and share cake,” said Tigger today. “But it looks like we will have to do that virtually this year. Hey, we could still eat that yummy cake, though. Well, after I eat lunch, that is.”
