This Company’s Drones Could Be Next Tree-Planters
Sometimes, even we humans have our limits; And in those times, we need more assistance than humanly possible. Like when we need replant trees lost to wildfires. So if it is not humanly possible, is it robotically possible?
The answer is “yes.” The Seattle-based company known as DroneSeed has a mission to plant tree seeds with swarms of eight-foot-tall drones. Theoretically, this could make the job done much quickly and effectively. The company uses Lidar, the tech used by self-driving cars that maps their surroundings, to map out the terrain. They also use many sensors to measure different light wavelengths to tell the difference between gravel and healthy soil areas.
“With some more improvement, these drones could become the next tree-planters, for real,” said Tigger earlier in an interview. “Sorry, human tree-planters, because we have to move on to the future, not stay in the past forever. Hey, you could watch the drones’ progress!”
