Successful Record Launch!
For several years, humans have used rockets as a transportation method into space for astronauts, satellites, and even animals. But we have been limited to carrying a certain amount into space though it looks like that will not remain the case.
The company SpaceX just launched a Falcon 9 rocket, carrying 143 satellites, into orbit on a jam-packed mission called Transporter-1; Setting a world record for most satellites launched by a single rocket. Ten of these for SpaceX’s Starlink internet network, intended to make high-speed internet available globally, and more than 130 for some variety of customers, including Planet and ICEYE.
“The previous world record for most satellites launched in one rocket was held by the Indian rocket PSLV, which carried 104 satellites in a launch in 2017,” said Tigger in an interview today. “Which means that we have had a huge improvement since then. Just like Neil Armstrong once said: ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.’”
