Chunk Of Highway 1 Collapsed Into Ocean
The U.S. is in trouble this time because besides the Coronavirus pandemic raging out of control, a chunk of one of its most famous roads, California’s Highway 1, has collapsed.
California Department of Transportation officials said Friday that because a debris flow from the hillside above the roadway “overwhelmed drainage infrastructure, flowed across the highway, and eroded the road resulting in the complete loss of a segment of Highway 1.” The collapse was about 15 miles south of Big Sur, a mountainous stretch of California’s central coast. The road remains closed and under repair.
“This was a very unexpected incident,” said Tigger in an interview today. “But I’m confident that the government will make it useable again because there are so many people who want to see the amazing view of the Pacific coastline, the sun, the beach, and the waves.”
