Alien Life? Scientists Detect Radio Signal From Outer Space

February 6, 2021171 words1 min read

For so many years, humans have tried to find signs of extraterrestrial life. And maybe, just maybe, we have finally found it: A radio signal from outer space.

The unexpected signal came in 2019, when the 64-meter-wide Parkes radio telescope, located in Australia, was recording in the direction of the nearby star Proxima Centauri. For hours, the telescope recorded data from it for 30-minute intervals, in a procedure called “nodding.” In five of these intervals, while the antenna was pointing at our close star neighbor, the signal got detected. And it was not while the antenna aimed in another direction. The strange thing is, when we found out, it was almost the end of 2020!

“That all means that there could be some alien life out there,” said Tigger in an interview. “The planets around Centauri can be inhabitable. But the closest planet could be vastly affected by a flare, which could burn their atmosphere and kill any familiar kind of life.”

That has been the New News Newsminute, thank you.
