3D Printed House On Sale In New York
You must have heard of things “printed” into existence, called 3D printing. These range from 3D printed masks to everyday household objects. But this company, SQ4D Inc, is taking it to the next level, with a 3D printed house now on sale in Riverhead, New York. Listed online through Zillow, it has an asking price of $299,999. SQ4D’s goal is to “print homes fast, and cheap and strong,” to reduce housing construction costs in places such as New York, where these costs are very high. The Autonomous Robotic Construction System used to print these houses can be set up at a site in six to eight hours. It lays concrete layer by layer, creating the foundation, the interior, and exterior walls of a house. The process is ten times faster, said Stephen King, the Zillow Premier agent who has the 3D house listing.
“I think it’s kind of strange to “print” a house,” said Tigger earlier today. “But it’s certainly cheaper than hiring a group of workers, then dig the foundations and all that.”
That has been the New News Newsminute, thank you.
