Happy Valentine’s Day!
Do you know what date it is? Yes, it’s Feb 14th, which means it’s also Valentine’s Day!
This holiday originated as a Western Christian feast day honoring an early Saint named Valentine. There were actually three Saint Valentines, though the first and most noteworthy was Saint Valentine of Rome. In short, he was a priest in Rome who assisted Christians persecuted in the Roman Empire but got martyred in 269 CE for that and many other things he did. He got buried in Via Flaminia. And now, after centuries and centuries, the feast is a cultural and commercial holiday centered around romance and love, although not a public holiday. The symbols linked with it are the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the winged figure of Cupid.
“Well, it looks like I’ll have to let my parents cook up another feast,” said Tigger earlier today. “Why not? You could do it, or let your parents do it, as well.”
