24 Chinese Solar Terms: Rain Water
You may already know that the Chinese divide a year into 24 solar terms. Well, these solar terms are seemingly pretty short because already, today’s the 2nd one in the year, Rain Water.
It marks the end of the cold days and the start of an increase in rainfall, with temperatures rising slowly. With its arrival, rivers melt, geese migrate from south to north, and trees start growing leaves, while grass turns green, and flowers start blossoming. But don’t take off the thick coats too early. The rapid increase of air humility due to rainfall can result in lower temperatures and wet weather.
Maybe a year isn’t as long as it seems after all if you think about it as 24 solar terms, one only about two weeks long. And in that “short” year, go out for some fun, go to the park or somewhere with few people, and somewhere where you could relax. Take a break, and enjoy the start of a brand new year.
