NPC Closes Annual Session

March 12, 2021162 words1 min read

Sometimes, things can end as quickly as they started, just like the Chinese NPC, National People’s Congress, ending yesterday. That got followed by an “unfamiliar version” of meeting the press with Premier Li Keqiang and the journalists not in the same room, communicating via video link.

Premier Li talked about a few main topics, and here’s a brief review. On employment, he said China is still facing “great pressure in the job market” this year. Besides promoting job measures, more flexible job channels will get opened up, he said. Addressing the fight against Covid, Li said that China also hopes to get to the origins of where the virus came from, expressing that he was confident humanity would win the battle against it. On Sino-U.S. ties, Li hopes China and the U.S. can respect core interests and not interfere in each other’s internal affairs.

So that’s the end of this recap, I’m Tigger, and this is the New News Newsminute. Thank you.
