What are the Grammy Awards?
You probably know about the Nobel Prizes and stuff, which get awarded to people who’ve helped the world. But do you know the Grammy Awards? They are pretty different.
The Grammys are awarded annually to people who have achievements in the music industry. Winners are selected from more than 25 fields, covering pop, rock, rap, classical, jazz, and such, as well as production and postproduction work. Four general awards also get given for record, album, the year’s best song, and best new artist; In total, there are more than 75 awards, with each winner receiving a golden statuette of a gramophone. Voting members of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, which presents the awards, vote in their expertise area to select five nominees for every award and eventually the winner.
The 63rd Grammys was hosted by Trevor Noah of “The Daily Show” from the Los Angeles Convention Center on Mar 14th. Like other award shows during the pandemic, there was no audience. If you want to try, your music recording or video needs to get released in the U.S. between Oct 1st of the previous year and midnight on Sep 30th of the given Grammy year. That has been the New News Newsminute. Thank you, and good luck.
