Let’s Close Our Lights For One Hour!
It’s something that we use most of the day that illuminates everything. Yes, it’s our light bulbs. It may seem hard, but today, you’re going to leave them and other electricity-using things off for 60 minutes.
Don’t worry because it’s not only you who’s blacking-out. Millions of people turn their lights off at 8:30 pm in their local times on the last Saturday of March. Global landmarks such as Rome’s Colosseum and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco also stand in darkness. That’s all part of a World Wildlife Fund climate change initiative event called Earth Hour to create awareness and spark conversations on protecting nature. That’s done by turning lights off for an hour, with some people switching to candles for light.
And don’t go just yet because you can also spread the event to your friends! Earth Hour is not only to protect nature, but we’re protecting our health, our happiness, our prosperity, and our survival too.
