It’s World Piano Day!
If you’re a fan of classical music, then surely you know the piano. Whether you enjoy the music it makes, or a pianist yourself, then it’s time to celebrate World Piano Day, which is today!
As its name suggests, this day is all about the musical instrument. You probably already know the workings of a piano. Every sound made is made by a string, or a set of strings, vibrating at a specific frequency. That depends on the length, diameter, tension, and density of the wires. But to make the strings vibrate, there needs to have a cause. Unlike on a harp, on the piano, that’s done by pressing down on keys. Not the keys you open doors with, but the “keys” on your keyboard. Like pressing on a keyboard, pressing on a piano key makes it go down, striking the string, and making the sound.
As for the electric piano, the sound is transferred, as electric signals, to loudspeakers. Anyway, do you like the piano? Listen to a piano tune, or play it yourself! There’s no harm in trying. It’s just for celebrating World Piano Day!
