It’s Eiffel Tower Day!
Most who’re into traveling may know, if not already visited, the Eiffel Tower. But it’s not just an iron tower in the middle of a square in Paris. It’s older than you think.
Taking two years, two months, and five days to construct, the tower was the tallest building in the world until the 1929 finishing of the Chrysler Building in NYC. When the French Government was organizing the International Exposition of 1889 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution, a competition got held for a suitable monument. More than 100 plans got submitted, and the Centennial Committee accepted that of Gustave Eiffel. His concept was a 300-meter tower built of open-lattice wrought iron, which brought amazement and skepticism. The completion of the light, airy, yet stable structure today in 1889 got marked by what is now Eiffel Tower Day!
Bake a cake, wear a shirt, and organize a picnic with your friends (online) featuring the Eiffel Tower because it’s time to celebrate Eiffel Tower Day!
