It’s International Children’s Book Day!
Some children don’t like books. They never read them. However, today’s International Children’s Book Day, ICBD, inspires a love of reading and calling attention to children’s books.
This day has been organized every year since 1967 by the International Board of Books For Young People, what a long name, is a non-profit organization that promotes children’s literature, encouraging young people to read. It has about 70 member countries, National Sections, and each year, one gets chosen to be the national sponsor of ICBD, with the responsibility of creating a theme. It also invites a well-known author to write a slogan and an illustrator to create a poster.
So what could you do for this event? If you’re a parent, you could encourage your children to read more books. And if you’re the naughty child who likes to play video games instead of reading, then try reading some books. Find one of your interests (not on games, of course), sit down, and start reading!
