What Is International Dinosaur Day
Do you know how long the dinosaurs lived? When they first appeared, and when they vanished? The dinosaurs, as you probably know, first existed around 245 million years ago, and died out 66 million years ago.
Scientists think they died out because around that particular period, volcanoes started to erupt frantically, and ash filled the skies, blocking out the sun, and plants needing sunlight started dying out, soon followed by the ones who ate plants, and leaving the carnivores with nothing to eat, and not for long, dying of starvation. But birds are actually descendants of dinosaurs, since they are just mini-dinosaurs with feathers and wings.
"We still remember these huge beings, by creating and celebrating International Dinosaur Day on the third Tuesday of May, all the way to June 1st," says Tigger.
