Unites of Measurement:
1 nanometre = 1 metre * 10^-3
1 millimetre = 1/1000 metre
1 metre = 100 centimetres
1 kilometre = 1000 metres
Units In The Real World:
A nanometer is roughly the size of an atom
A millimeter is roughly the size of an ant
A human’s height is usually represented in the unit “metres”
The world’s tallest building is almost (but not quite) a kilometre tall.
Important Fact: Magnification = Image Size ÷ Object Size
Note: ALWAYS use the same units measurement to prevent errors.
The Microscope (used to see small things in detail)
The maximal level of detail on a microscope = its resolution (the shortest distance between two points on a specimen that can still be distinguished as to separate entities)
