Irrational Numbers
Idea: Irrational Number
a number that can’t be written as the ratio of a whole number
Examples of Irrational Numbers:
Pi (π)3.141592653589793…
Square Root of Two e.g. xˆ2=9 x=√9=3
Cube root (3√8) e.g. x^3=8 x=3√8=2
Conclusion: the nth root of a number is always a number one can multiply itself n times to get the original number.
Note: not all infinite decimals are irrational numbersFor example, 1/3 isn’t an irrational number, because it can be represented as the ratio of a whole number.
