Diffusion (solutions/gases)
The spreading out of particles from an area of high concentration, to an area of lower concentration.
Note: the diffusion process is completely random
Diffuse through cell membrane
the cell membrane is PARTIALLY PERMEABLE (only some particles can pass though them)
For example, amino acids, oxygen, water, glucose
Faster diffusion depends on the following factors:
Larger concentration gradient (inside the cell)
Higher temperature (inside the cell)
The cell has a large surface area
