How To Find Multiples & Factors
Multiples:
First five multiples of ‘6’:
1*6=6
2*6=12
3*6=18
Summarize: division by ‘6’ without any remainder = multiple of ‘6’
Example: ‘378’ is/isn’t multiple of ‘6’. 378÷6=63 (63 is whole number), so ‘378’ is multiple of ‘6’
Example: ‘19’ is/isn’t multiple of ‘6’. 19÷6=3 R 1 (there is a remainder), so ‘19’ isn’t a multiple of ‘6’
Factor = Find factor pairs.
28 = 1*28 = 2*14 = 4*7 (1, 28, 2, 14, 4, 7 are all factors of 28)
Conclusion:
Multiple of a certain number ≥ the original number
Factor of a certain number ≤ the original number
