First Launch In America For 9 Years
It's been nearly nine years since the last spacecraft took off from American soil, and for the first time in years, NASA is launching one, from a launching bad in Florida, carrying two astronauts, Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley, in a mission called Demo-2.
The rocket body will be a Falcon 9, and the cockpit a Crew Dragon. If successful, the Crew Dragon will be the first commercial-made aircraft to visit the ISS (International Space Station).
But this time, it's not only NASA who is running the show, but Space X (founded by Elon Musk), is also in this project.
They sort of divided the job, with the aircraft and technology made by Space X, and NASA supporting the astronauts.
"It's been a long time now, and I'm happy to see that America's rockets are in use again," says Tigger. If you want to see the show live, go to Live NASA TV on May 27th at 12:15 to watch the launch scheduled for 16:33 (In America Eastern Time).
