Fungal & Protist Diseases
Fungi = Unicellular (yeast) or Multicellular (mushroom)
An Example of a Fungal Disease: Rose Black Spot
They develop especially on roses
Leaves will ‘drop off’
Reduces rate of photosynthesis
The plants don’t grow as well
It spreads either through water or wind
It can be treated by chopping off the infected leaves, or spraying it with a fungicide
Protists = Eukaryotes = Uni or Multi Cellular
• Parasites; living inside or on another organism, and are transported by vectors
An example is malaria, which comes in the form of parasitic protists
The best way to treat it is to stop the vectors from spreading the parasites.
