Protests In Seattle. Here's Why

June 16, 2020175 words1 min read

Hi, and welcome back, to the New News Newshour, I'm Tigger. About a month ago, an African American named George Floyd, at the age of 46, was killed in Minneapolis, U.S.A, by a white cop, by the name of Derek Chauvin.

Mr. Floyd was arrested on suspicion of using a counterfeit $20 bill. After police arrived, they handcuffed Floyd, but by some struggle, the white officer kneeled on Floyd’s neck, and about 9 minutes later, he went unconscious, and was later reported dead.

The reason the New News Newshour didn't tell this story until now, is because it thought you readers won't be happy.

About a week later, protests started. First peacefully in Minneapolis, but later turned violent in other cities.

Seattle was one, and people joined because they were angry their country wasn't playing fair.

Tigger thinks, some protesters move from place to place, here the mayor doesn't agree? Fine! Off to the next one, and so on. But whatever you do, DON’T join the protests (if you're in the US) to keep safe.
