Hi, and welcome to the Fathers and Father's Day Museum, or FFDM! It's all about the history of Fathers and Father’s Day. And today I'm going to take you on a tour of its main part: “ The Origins of Father's Day,” which is on the 1st floor.

Father's Day, as you know, is an old holiday, dating all the way back to 1910, founded by Sonora Smart Dodd (who I think is smart). But the real reason there's Father's Day, actually like three years before then, when a mining explosion killed more than 300 men, many who were fathers. After the accident, a church held a memorial service, and that's what inspired Smart.

So that's tragic story behind the history of Father's Day. And didn't I tell you, that I'm Tigger, and the manager of FFDM?

Well, now that you know, let me tell you about some suggestions of how to celebrate Father's Day. If you're a child, then you can make cards with drawings. And if you're a parent, then I advise you to just sit back, and do nothing, ’cause honestly, what could you make?
