Declaration Of Independence
Hi, my name is Thomas Jefferson. It's July 4th, 1776, when the original Declaration of Independence was accepted by the Continental Congress. Later, people named this day as “Independence Day” or “Fourth of July”, in honor of America's independence. So what's the Declaration of Independence, anyway?
It's a long list of reasons why the 13 states wanted no more of Great Britain, taxes, stuff like that. I know all this, ‘cause I'm sort of the author of this list, though my friends, like Ben Franklin, helped along the way.
For one, people thought that: We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; That they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; That among these are life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness”, is a very good sentence, and to be honest, I thought that too.
Your friend, Tigger, is here too, and he wants to talk. Hi there, friends, I hope you like Jefferson’ speech. Thanks, Jefferson. Anyway, I and him are off for some coke. Hey, wait, were cokes invented yet?
