People have different views regarding what to do when faced with a bad situation. While some believe we should fight for the better, I completely disagree with that opinion, as I think we should accept the status quo.
On the one hand, a handful of individuals think that if you push through a bleak situation, there will be a better future waiting for you on the other side. Indeed, harboring a hopeful attitude to life’s challenges can provide unexpected opportunities. For example, when faced with deteriorating financial insecurities, one may find working harder by balancing multiple jobs and working overtime a plausible way out.
On the other hand, accepting the situation is better. The ‘fighting for a better future’ model is over-idealistic as it only promotes stories of success and achievement. Often times, when people are faced with a bad situation, they can exhibit negative emotions ranging from dissatisfaction to anger. If they now stick to overly-idealistic principles, failure could further fuel the fire of emotions, possibly leading to symptoms of depression and chronic anxiety. A more practical approach would be to get on with the past and look forward to future events. Although it wouldn’t necessarily cause any exponential changes in one’s life in the immediate future, it can provide a steady path to building a better life in the long-term away from the towering shadows of past events and failure.
In conclusion, we should be turning our gaze to what’s ahead and accept what has already happened.
